YourAshtanga doesn’t just treat their students, they treat the entire community. Inspired by Denver’s restaurant, Parsley, Ashley wanted to make sure that YourAshtanga would be a hub for environmental, humanitarian, and yoga information. To achieve this, Every 3 months YourAshtanga sponsor’s a local nonprofit. Ashley has also begun to create an extensive library within the studio (as space permits). Giving back to the community and partnering with local businesses is a key aspect to Ashley’s business model for YourAshtanga. For example, KettleBell Yoga is a class designed by Ashley and Priscilla McElveen, founder and trainer of Warrior Within Fitness. Ashley designed Yoda Yoga Jedi Training for Pop Culture Classroom’s Comic Con 2018. For Ashley, community is essential. She want’s YourAshtanga to be a lasting pillar in Golden. To ensure that the students of YourAshtanga are treated with love and guided by the best, Ashley offers one of the most competitive compensation plans for Yoga Teachers in Colorado. Both, the teachers and students, are taken care of at YourAshtanga.
The Creation of YourAshtanga
Ashley Elsasser founded YourAshtanga February 14th of 2016, so that she could teach private classes to athletes, yoga in Spanish for the American Diabetes Association Latin Initiative, SunSet Yoga in Wash Park, Yoga & Crepes on Broadway and many more. Although Ashley never thought she would make a career out of yoga, it has been an essential part of her life since she was 12 years old. Ashley pursued a dynamic academic life. Studying biochemistry for 3 years at Indiana University South Bend, Spanish at the Instituto de Oaxaca, published her first academic article after her stay in Mexico, and then shortly transferring to the University of Denver to study international relations at the Joseph Korbel School for International Relations. Fast forward to the summer of 2017. Ashley had a flight booked for India to speak at a conference, on economics and business issues, regarding her published academic paper NAFTA The Effects of Migration From Mexico the U.S. and What to do Going Forward. Shortly after Ashley returned from visiting law schools in Chicago and California, she sat down and prayed. She asked to have the ability to listen to her heart and that every action and decision made from that moment on, be done so out of compassion and honesty. “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” (Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist) She receives a phone call from her landlord. “Ashley, you teach yoga right?”. Her response, “Yes! What’s up?”. “I have a rental property in downtown Golden that would be great for a yoga studio, want to come take a look?” … From there, the universe conspired to help her.
Ashley ended up extending her stay in India so that she could study in Rishikesh. January 15th 2018 she opened YourAshtanga Yoga Studio. Two months after, she acquired Golden Well Being Yoga.
